Disavowal

Disavowal (تنصّل) gathers new paintings, reliefs and small sculptures by Waleed R Qaisi, made in 2026 and shown together for the first time at Orfali.

The canvases are large and saturated — cadmium yellow, crimson, viridian and violet laid down in broad, fast passages. Across each field a single drawn line travels: the contour of a chair, a figure, a roof, something half-remembered that refuses to settle into an object. Where the line ends, paint gathers into dense clusters of ochre, plum and green, as if the thing being described had collapsed into its own weight. In the red painting, drips fall the full height of the canvas and a strip of raw grey cuts across the middle like a horizon, or a bandage.
