One of a small group of works Shaker Alousi made in 2018, Deep River returns to a recurring subject: the last palm trees before the desert. The landscape composition is carried by ochres, siennas and a burst of cadmium red, laid on with thick impasto built up over weeks. Formerly in a private collection, Amman. It is shown here framed, as the artist intended.
