Golden Harvest

One of a small group of works Sawsan Al Saraf made, Golden Harvest returns to a recurring subject: the market at first light. Built with a palette knife dragged across wet paint, the surface holds a near-black ground from which the forms barely emerge; the square format keeps the eye close to the subject. A work of unusual nostalgia. Formerly in a private collection, Amman.
