One of a small group of works Salem Mathkour made in 2021, Quiet Rooftops returns to a recurring subject: a musician tuning an oud. Built with long glazes over an earth ground, the surface holds honey and terracotta warmed by a late sun; the landscape format keeps the eye close to the subject.
