Evening Passage

One of a small group of works Nathem Hamed made, Evening Passage returns to a recurring subject: a table set for guests who never came. Built with areas of flat colour against a textured ground, the surface holds cool blues and greys, like the river in winter; the square format keeps the eye close to the subject. Formerly in a private collection, Amman. It is shown here as the artist intended.
