One of a small group of works Nathem Hamed made, Amber Courtyard returns to a recurring subject: a mother and child in a doorway. Built with areas of flat colour against a textured ground, the surface holds olive, ash and a thread of rose; the landscape format keeps the eye close to the subject. A work of unusual urgency.
