In Wandering Passage, Haythem Hassan sets down a flock of birds over the river, remembered from the Euphrates. The portrait composition is carried by ochres, siennas and a burst of cadmium red, laid on with layers scraped back to the canvas. A work of unusual defiance. Formerly in a private collection, Amman.
