One of a small group of works Ghandi Jebawi made in 2009, Morning Passage returns to a recurring subject: the roofs of the old quarter after rain. Ochres, siennas and a burst of cadmium red dominate, worked with layers scraped back to the canvas. What stays with the viewer is its melancholy. From the artist's studio.
