One of a small group of works Ghandi Jebawi made in 2011, Distant Orchard returns to a recurring subject: the roofs of the old quarter after rain. Warm earth tones — sand, rust and burnt orange dominate, worked with thick impasto built up over weeks. What stays with the viewer is its defiance. Formerly in a private collection, Amman.
