One of a small group of works Farouq Hassan made in 2012, Morning Rooftops returns to a recurring subject: a doorway seen from the street. Built with long glazes over an earth ground, the surface holds olive, ash and a thread of rose; the square format keeps the eye close to the subject. A work of unusual quiet joy.
