One of a small group of works Farouq Hassan made in 2002, Morning Reed Bed returns to a recurring subject: the roofs of the old quarter after rain. Ochres, siennas and a burst of cadmium red dominate, worked with thin washes that let the drawing show through. A work of unusual tenderness. Formerly in a private collection, Amman.
