One of a small group of works Ali Najjar made in 1998, Silent River returns to a recurring subject: a figure waiting at a window. The square composition is carried by silvered greens and the blue of distance, laid on with short, hatched strokes. What stays with the viewer is its defiance. Exhibited at Orfali Art Gallery.
