Blue Procession

One of a small group of works Abdul Hussain Twaij made, Blue Procession returns to a recurring subject: boats pulled up on the mud. Built with layers scraped back to the canvas, the surface holds ochres, siennas and a burst of cadmium red; the portrait format keeps the eye close to the subject. Shown in the artist's solo exhibition at Orfali. It is shown here as the artist intended.
