In Silent Window, Abd Raouf Shamoun sets down a horse and rider dissolving into dust, remembered from the Euphrates. Ochres, siennas and a burst of cadmium red dominate, worked with long glazes over an earth ground. A work of unusual quiet joy. Shown in the artist's solo exhibition at Orfali.
