One of a small group of works Abd Raouf Shamoun made in 1999, Silent Orchard returns to a recurring subject: boats pulled up on the mud. The square composition is carried by honey and terracotta warmed by a late sun, laid on with thin washes that let the drawing show through. What stays with the viewer is its melancholy. Exhibited at Orfali Art Gallery.
