One of a small group of works Abdulqader Bakheet made in 2016, Morning Reed Bed returns to a recurring subject: a horse and rider dissolving into dust. Built with a single continuous line, the surface holds ochres, siennas and a burst of cadmium red; the portrait format keeps the eye close to the subject. What stays with the viewer is its quiet joy.
