One of a small group of works Shayban Ahmed made, First Shore returns to a recurring subject: the last palm trees before the desert. Bleached whites with the faintest wash of colour dominate, worked with layers scraped back to the canvas. What stays with the viewer is its nostalgia. Acquired directly from the artist.
